Job summary

Cabarrus-Rowan Community Health Center seeks a Financial Counselor in the Operations department. The role helps patients access Medicaid, Marketplace and sliding fee programs, verifies benefits in the Athenahealth system, and assists with enrollment and authorizations.

You will educate patients about deductibles, co-pays, and costs, set up payment plans, and transition self-pay patients to coverage when possible, while maintaining accurate records and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and comprehend English, maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all personnel.
• Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED; associate degree preferred or 1–2 years related experience.
• Experience in healthcare or business field; Community Health Center background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign insurance plan, financial class and COB for each patient; verify benefits in Athenahealth.
• Contact payers to verify eligibility and obtain prior authorizations; document references and details.
• Assist CAC applicants with Medicaid and Marketplace enrollment and renewals; guide patients through the enrollment process.
