Job summary

Workforce Recruiter is helping a Mississippi client hire a Medicaid Eligibility Product Owner. This role focuses on turning complex MAGI/non-MAGI rules into a clear backlog and prioritizing work for the state’s eligibility system.

You will partner with policy, program, and technology teams to ensure timely, accurate eligibility decisions and smooth interaction with enrollment processes. Strong communication and federal/state requirements experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, product manager, or business lead on government or healthcare systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, or integrated eligibility systems.
• Working knowledge of Medicaid eligibility rules, including MAGI and non-MAGI categories, verifications, and renewals.
• Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria and managing a backlog in Jira, Azure DevOps, or a similar tool.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams.
• Clear, plain-spoken communication with technical teams and agency executives alike.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the product backlog for Medicaid eligibility and enrollment systems.
• Translate eligibility policy into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead impact analysis for new federal and state requirements.
• Partner with policy and program staff to clarify rules and document decisions.
• Collaborate with Scrum Masters, developers, testers, and business analysts through planning and reviews.
• Accept completed work against acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing.
• Coordinate dependencies with SNAP, MMIS, and managed care programs.
• Track outcomes like processing timeliness, auto-renewals, and error rates to guide priorities.
• Communicate progress, trade-offs, and risks to agency leadership.
