Job summary

Alaska Regional Hospital is seeking a Medicaid Eligibility Advocate to screen patients for insurance coverage, assist with eligibility determinations, and counsel on benefits and co-pays. You will liaise between patients, the hospital, and government agencies, and contribute to all areas of case management.

The role requires evaluating coverage, obtaining authorizations, gathering documentation, and maintaining accurate patient records. Some field visits and transportation are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Screen and evaluate patients for insurance coverage and assistance programs.
• Assist with eligibility determination and enrollment processes.
• Document progress notes and keep patient files updated.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage or government programs.
• Re-verify benefits and obtain authorizations after treatment planning.
• Obtain medical evidence and documentation for eligibility.
• Complete and file applications; follow-up with patients and agencies.
• Enter insurance and demographic data accurately; maintain progress notes.
• Participate in ongoing training programs as required.
• Cover other office functions to aid efficiency.
• Make field visits as needed and arrange transportation.
