GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director of Medical Education, the Medical Education Consultant plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of graduate medical education. You'll drive meaningful change by providing strategic direction, hands‑on leadership, and day‑to‑day management of our residency programs and initiatives. You'll mentor and develop the Residency Program Coordinator team, champion process improvements, and collaborate with internal and external partners to exceed established goals. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on resident success and program excellence through initiative, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving. You'll lead the end‑to‑end onboarding and hiring process for our residency programs, ensuring every trainee has a seamless entry into our organization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with leadership to shape the strategic vision and direction of department initiatives and projects that drive program excellence.
  • Empower and delegate project work to administrative staff, fostering professional growth and team development.
  • Innovate and implement solutions that streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency across the department.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional teams across the organization, bringing medical education expertise and collaborative spirit.
  • Orchestrate project management and coordination activities to ensure seamless workflow execution and timely delivery by internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize budgets for department projects and initiatives, demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
  • Design and distribute insightful reports to key stakeholders, translating data into actionable insights.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and information security.
  • Champion the successful hiring and onboarding of trainees by managing all regulatory requirements—including visa processing, background checks, medical school verification, I-9 compliance, and health clearances—with precision and care.
  • Own the complete onboarding experience, ensuring all trainee data and required information in our student/residency management system is accurate, current, and audit-ready.
  • Serve as the trusted liaison between residency programs and key Henry Ford Health departments (University, EHR, EPIC, Employee Health), ensuring coordinated support and successful trainee integration.
  • Coordinate and schedule comprehensive hospital orientations for incoming residents, fellows, medical students, and rotating physicians, creating welcoming and informative experiences.
  • Champion compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and other accreditation standards, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians through appropriate channels—formal correspondence, email, group communications—keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Plan and execute engaging events, orientations, courses, seminars, and presentations; manage logistics including speaker coordination, materials preparation, parking, badges, and audiovisuals; monitor attendance and budgets.
  • Develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies and materials that attract top talent to our programs; respond promptly to internal and external inquiries.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, business, or related field.
