Qualifications

• High School Diploma and state certification as a Medication Aide/Technician, or completion of Daymark’s 24-hour course with skills competency witnessed by a nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provide medication administration under nurse supervision; monitor for medication errors and stock levels.
• Carry out medical orders under nurse supervision; verify receipt and restock items.
• Maintain medical and office equipment; perform preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Perform UDS, COVID testing, pregnancy testing; dispose of contaminated supplies and sanitize instruments.
• Record patient information, conduct health screenings, document observations and vital signs.
• Maintain safe and confidential patient care environment and adhere to policies and regulations.
• Prepare patients for appointments via in-person or telemedicine with prescribers.
• Participate in training to improve medical assisting and knowledge of MH/SA/IDD populations.
• All other duties as assigned by center director or senior management.

Pay Scale

$18-$19/hr.

Summary

Responsible for providing support and care to meet the physical and psychological needs of consumers through providing direct and indirect care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Medication administration under the supervision of Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, monitors medication errors, monitors pharmacy stock and medical/office supplies.
• Carries out medical orders under the supervision of a nurse; verifies receipt; stocks items.
• Keeps medical and office equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Performs UDS, COVID testing, pregnancy testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; sanitizing medical instruments and equipment.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; performing health screenings, reviewing and recording medical observations and history; taking vital signs.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
• Includes completing medical records by recording patient examination/observations, treatment, response to treatment, discharge plan and test results.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects medical office/unit operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
• Prepares patients for appointment/rounds in person or via telemed with medical prescribers.
• Improves medical assisting, knowledge of MH/SA/IDD populations and services and medical job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications, attending staff meetings and supervision meetings.
• All other duties as assigned by center director or other senior management.
