Responsibilities

• Perform health screenings, vital signs, and documentation of patient observations and treatment results.
• Prepare patients for appointments or telemedicine with prescribers.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and safety per policies and regulations.

Summary

Responsible for providing support and care to meet the physical and psychological needs of consumers through providing direct and indirect care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Medication administration under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse; monitoring medication errors, pharmacy stock, and medical/office supplies; carrying out medical orders; verifying receipt and stocking items.
• Keeping medical and office equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Performing UDS, COVID testing, pregnancy testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; sanitizing medical instruments and equipment.
• Verifying patient information by interviewing patients; performing health screenings; reviewing and recording medical observations and history; taking vital signs.
• Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns; completing medical records by documenting patient examinations/observations, treatment, response to treatment, discharge plan and test results; maintaining patient confidence and protecting office/unit operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
• Preparing patients for appointments or rounds in person or via telemedicine with medical prescribers.
• Improving medical assisting skills, knowledge of MH/SA/IDD populations and services, and medical job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications; attending staff meetings and supervision meetings.
• Performing all other duties as assigned by the center director or other senior management.
