Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Part-Time Unit Clerk/PCA to join our patient care team in Bedford, IN. You will work 2 twelve-hour shifts weekly providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and supporting the unit with clerical duties.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification (may be required for unit secretary training), and basic knowledge of medical terminology and infection control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under a nurse direction.
• Perform unit clerical duties and maintain patient records.
• Schedule tests and procedures; sign patients in and out of the unit.
• Arrange delivery of equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• Provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
