Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Unit Secretary to provide a blend of direct patient care and clerical support within the department. You will assist the Clinical Nurse, maintain patient records, and help coordinate tests and the delivery of equipment and supplies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR/BLS as applicable, and basic computer skills, with prior acute patient care experience preferable. Safety and infection control knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Requires previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires knowledge of principles of infection control.
• Requires basic computer skills.
