Job summary

Medina Regional Hospital seeks a Director of Medical Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Med/Surg department in Texas. You will drive clinical excellence, align initiatives with organizational goals, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

You will oversee approximately 30 staff, guide policy and performance standards, and manage budgets and resources to ensure high-quality patient care with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current Texas RN License required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS certification required within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate Med/Surg department operations, programs, and services.
• Ensure staffing levels, workflows, and resources meet patient care needs.
• Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards.
• Monitor and manage departmental budgets, expenditures, and capital equipment requests.
• Collaborate with nurse managers and medical staff to address patient care concerns and clinical challenges.
• Lead quality management, utilization review, and discharge planning initiatives.
• Conduct rounds to observe clinical practices and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate with other departments and external partners to support patient care continuity.
• Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, staff satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
• Mentor and evaluate nursing staff; oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
