Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical unit to deliver patient-centered care within a supportive nursing organization. You will assess, plan, implement, and educate patients while collaborating with the health care team.

The role requires MA RN licensure, BLS and possibly ACLS in some units, plus a Diploma/ASN/BSN with a plan to obtain BSN within 4 years. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team in quality improvement projects
