Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse to align with our mission, values and ethics while delivering individualized patient care from admission to discharge. You will perform direct nursing care, collaborate with the care team, and participate in evidence-based planning and teaching.

The role includes organizing health data, developing and updating the plan of care, and coordinating discharge planning with patients and families.

Qualifications

• BSN required; Illinois RN license.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to collaborate with others and analyze data.
• ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years of start.
• ER: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within 1 year of hire.
• Pediatric ER: TNCC within 1 year of hire; Non-invasive Cardiology: ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status at admission.
• Organize assessment data for care planning.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention.
• Validate diagnoses with patient/family and health care team.
• Document diagnoses and plan of care.
• Initiate and update discharge plans from admission.
• Identify patient teaching needs during stay.
• Arrange conferences with patient/family and health team.
• Prioritize evidence-based nursing interventions.
• Provide patient/family education based on evidence and research.
