Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon seeks a Charge Nurse to oversee a nursing unit, assist with patient care, and serve as a link between staff and the Nursing Coordinator. The role includes supervising staff, participating in interviews, and helping with staffing patterns and performance evaluations.

The Charge Nurse also facilitates policy implementation, coordinates care delivery, and supports quality assurance activities, education, and intershift communication.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of Registered Nurse experience, with at least one year in a clinical specialty.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a high school diploma or GED.
• Current Oregon RN license and Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing personnel; participate in interviewing applicants and staff evaluations.
• Monitor staff performance and staffing patterns; coordinate staff meetings.
• Support problem solving and effective communication between shifts and with the Nursing Coordinator.
• Assist in providing and facilitating client care; follow nursing standards, policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and discharge planning as appropriate.
• Act as educator and resource to staff, with ongoing education and development.
