Capital Health is seeking a Med Lab Technician in Pennington, NJ, for a full-time role. The position performs testing using automated equipment or manual methods, prepares samples, and records results with attention to accuracy and infection control standards.

• Education: Associate's degree in science related field. Degree in medical laboratory sciences preferred. ASCP preferred.
• Experience: Previous clinical laboratory employment.
• Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with personal computers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Special Training: Completion of training in medical technology program or related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs all testing accurately and timely within their assigned section using computer linked automated electronic equipment and/or manual methodologies.
• Performs routine procedures accurately requiring subjective analysis under supervision.
• Prepares samples of blood and body fluids for analysis taking measures to ensure the appropriateness of sample and the identity of the patient.
• Records accurate and timely results of analysis using manual and electronic reporting methods.
• Performs procedures accurately and completely following established infection control practices and adhering to established standards and practices for quality assurance.
• Uses knowledge of quality control methods in determining the acceptability of results.
• Consults with technical supervisors and pathologists regarding atypical results.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care when performing phlebotomy of other direct patient services.
• Instructs student technicians and staff members as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
