Job summary

GE Aerospace Research is seeking an exceptional early career researcher to join our Mechatronics Lab as a Lead Engineer. You will design electromechanical systems, develop control software, and lead prototype development from concept to testing on engine hardware.

You will collaborate with GE Aerospace engineers, manufacturers, and government programs while growing technical leadership and research impact in aerospace innovation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM.
• Willing to work from GE Aerospace Research office in Niskayuna, NY.
• US citizenship and clearance eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanisms, end effectors, fixtures, and test rigs in 3D CAD with drawings and BOMs.
• Build and debug prototype hardware from machined, 3D-printed, and purchased components.
• Integrate motors, encoders, load cells, and data acquisition hardware into electromechanical systems.
• Develop motion control and sensor-feedback software for multi-axis tools (homing, sequencing, control, fault handling).
• Model kinematics and dynamics with hand calculations, MATLAB/Python, and FEA.
