Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI seeks a Design Release Engineer for power electronics in the Onboard Charging Module (OBCM). You will lead DFSS analyses, manage design reviews, and collaborate with Tier 1/2 suppliers to ensure robust, scalable software and hardware implementations.

You will develop BOMs/SORs, drive engineering change processes, and participate in validation, verification, and software release planning to meet program milestones.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study.
• Three (3) years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Structural Engineer, Vehicle Safety Engineer, CAE Engineer, or related engineering role.
• Or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study, and five (5) years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Structural Engineer, Vehicle Safety Engineer, CAE Engineer, or related engineering role.
• Three (3) years of experience with the following: Bills of Design and Statements of Requirements; DFMEA and Design Reviews; Project management; Engineering mechanics, electronics, physics, manufacturing methods; and Engineering Change Management processes.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, implements, and analyzes technical products and systems.
• Oversees technical requirements of the OBCM and evaluation of 400Vdc and 800Vdc power electronics designs.
• Develops applications based on power electronics considering standards, dimensions, thermal properties, and coolant requirements.
• Collaborates with Tier 1/2 suppliers of power electronics and conducts design reviews.
• Implements BOMs and Reuse Strategy; executes root cause and problem resolution.
• Develops software release plans and reviews software validation results.
• Sets priority for ECRs, problem resolution, and development/validation plans.
• Uses DFSS as a decision tool for design trade-offs and ensures DFMEA.
• Coordinates design integration testing and supplier issue resolution.
