Qualifications

  • Experience with Component Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Component Technical Specification (CTS) development (preferred).
  • Experience with automotive PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) quality processes (preferred).
  • Experience with “DRE Essentials” methods and tools (preferred).
  • Experience balancing and mitigating risks with projects, suppliers, quality, and production (preferred).
  • DFMEA training (preferred).
  • Role involves designing for safety-critical systems/components (preferred).
  • Experience negotiating contracts and working with build-to-print suppliers (preferred).
  • Experience with Corporate Common Components (CCC) (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, and release of requirements, hardware, and validation for mechatronics devices across vehicle sensing, vehicle access, chassis, propulsion, and electronic device hardware.
  • Implement component release strategies supporting product roadmaps.
  • Oversee design and validation for mechatronics hardware calibrations and application software.
  • Lead Product Development Team meetings to coordinate component/system development and vehicle integration.
  • Support DFMEA development and updates.
  • Create and maintain Interface Control Document strategy and templates.
  • Author Engineering Work Orders to release components for prototype and production vehicles.
  • Prepare timing plans to meet program requirements and MRD dates.
  • Troubleshoot component- and vehicle-level issues using PRTS-Jira.
  • Generate and maintain Component Technical Specifications for mechatronic devices.
  • Update Best Practices, GM Specifications, and Statements of Requirements (SOR) and templates based on learnings.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally within GM and with multiple suppliers.
  • Lead/manage supplier resident engineers.
  • Support sourcing activities, including SOR, RFI, and SODW creation.
  • Generate technical solutions for new vehicle programs.
  • Perform complex design analysis.
  • Initiate engineering-authority documents and maintain math/CAD data.
  • Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel, and others on cost reduction, methods, product improvements, and build programs
