Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Mechatronics Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineers focused on actuation solutions and robotic platforms for Amazon’s operations. You will own full hardware development lifecycle from concept to production readiness and scaled deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing).
• Experience with the project management of technical projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field.
• 10 years or more of experience in mechanical design with at least 3+ years of management experience.
• Experience in the design of rotary actuation and related components (BLDC motors, bearings, grease, gears, etc)
• Familiar with industry standard CAD & FEA design tools and industry trends.
• Ability to manage process driven development mentality while also balancing time to market.
• Commitment to rigorous testing & validation practices.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Desire to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills.
• Experience in engineering team management across mechanical and/or mechatronics disciplines.
• Extensive system design experience interfacing with a wide array of electromechanical subsystems and associated debugging experience.
• SolidWorks or similar CAD experience, understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, and complex configuration management.
• Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
• Hands‑on experience crafting proof‑of‑concept models and prototypes.
• Thorough understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in hardware- development and ability to apply them to product design.
• Experience with full product lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet- milestones.
• Experience evaluating design, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems.

Responsibilities

• Leading and mentoring a team of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineers, fostering cradle‑to‑grave ownership and engineering rigor.
• Owning the delivery of mechanical and mechatronic products to market on time, in budget, and at targeted performance.
• Scoping, managing, and delivering multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production.
• Guiding interdisciplinary teams to execute product designs including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing.
• Interfacing with engineering managers, product management, and program management to drive new product development programs from concept to production.
