Job summary

Kalmar is offering an internship for a Development Engineer Mechatronics in Ottawa, KS, for summer 2027. You will contribute to the development and coordination of software design for Electronics, Controls and Mechatronics on the Terminal Tractor within MED, aligning with customer needs, legislation and internal requirements.

You will work on controls designs, network databases, document vehicle topologies, learn the vehicle architecture, and support upgrades while applying engineering standards

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor degree in mechanical, electrical, or computer science engineering.
• Preferred skills: C++, VBA, PC software applications and any other software development tools.
• Strong aptitude toward electrical, controls and mechatronic design.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Proficient in the use of Google suite software including Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
• Strong work ethic, dependable
• High Attention to Detail

Responsibilities

• Develop controls designs for our TT product line using function blocks, structured text, and other development tools.
• Develop Network Databases.
• Document vehicle network topologies by implementing with guidance from TT RDE team
• Learn current vehicle architecture and support planning upgrades.
• Ensures the use of engineering standards, methodologies and global product development processes into engineering team’s daily work tasks.
