Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Mechatronics Engineering leader for the Thomas Built Buses Mechatronics Development team. You will design and lead development of advanced vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and control systems for school bus products, guiding projects and staff to support production and service.

Successful candidates apply theory and practical engineering to deliver safe, reliable, energy-efficient vehicles using the latest technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university required.
• Understanding of CAN message formatting & network topology for heavy-duty vehicles.
• Experience with electrical systems in medium/heavy-duty vehicles.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of engineering/manufacturing processes and downstream impacts.
• Project management experience.
• Proficient with MS Office (including MS Project).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design advanced vehicle components and systems for school buses.
• Interface with engineering and external suppliers during development and testing phases.
• Lead a dedicated platform team to develop and launch electrical and controls systems.
• Apply statistical/engineering techniques and modeling in design and testing.
• Ensure designs meet government regulations and compliance.
