Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II, Mechanisms to own major mechanized assemblies from design release through test and integration onto the Terran R launch vehicle.

You will collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and production teams to develop processes, write work instructions, and lead improvements with a strong emphasis on manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• BS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering with 2+ years of hardware build and test experience.
• Experience developing processes, work instructions, and test procedures for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic assemblies.
• Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, planning and production personnel.
• Experience leading large process or quality improvements with broad ownership.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
• Knowledge in at least two of: fastening/torquing, pneumatic/electromechanical assembly, electrical testing, tooling design, potting, grease plating, harness manufacturing, or machining complex gears.

Responsibilities

• Own major mechanized assemblies and their child components from design release through test and integration onto Terran R launch vehicle.
• Drive build and test through design integration, part sourcing, assembly sequencing, mBOM development, and test work order creation.
• Support workcenter development focusing on assembly/test operations, tooling, safety, and capital equipment.
• Provide hands-on shop floor support and feedback to drive manufacturability.
• Analyze recurring manufacturing issues and lead root-cause investigations.
• Mentor other manufacturing engineers and promote continuous improvement.
