Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and procure tooling for heavy‑equipment fabrication with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

You will work closely with production, weld, and manufacturing teams, using NX to create tooling solutions and collaborating with vendors for pricing and technical support. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Physics and 2+ years of experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to obtain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Nuclear, Manufacturing) or Physics.
• Two+ years engineering experience required.
• Experience with solid modeling, preferably NX.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with internal and external customers.
• DOE clearance ability is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling for heavy equipment fabrication, including fixtures and lifting supports.
• Collaborate with production teams to review concepts and refine tooling.
• Model, analyze, and finalize tooling designs using NX.
• Coordinate with vendors for pricing, kickoff meetings, and technical guidance.
• Spend time on the production floor to understand build sequences and gather feedback.
• Prepare design reports, review drawings, and perform structural analyses (MathCAD, FEA).
