Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) seeks a Mechanical Test Engineer to lead mechanical and environmental evaluation of connector products in Etters, PA. You will develop robust test methods, run tests with lab technicians, and translate results into decisions on product performance.

You will design fixtures, plan qualification programs, and maintain detailed documentation, ensuring data quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in product testing, qualification, or mechanical design validation; connector or electromechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to design fixtures and test methods, interpret drawings and GD&T, analyze data, and write clear technical reports.
• Experience with force measurement systems, environmental chambers, and common lab instrumentation; familiarity with Instron and Bluehill is a plus.
• Strong organization, independent judgment, and ability to work with technicians and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into documented test plans with sample definitions, acceptance criteria, controls, and reporting.
• Own test setup and method development; collaborate with lab technicians on execution and sample prep.
• Maintain traceable records of samples, conditions, raw data, calculations, deviations and results; communicate conclusions clearly.
• Plan schedules and equipment capacity for qualification programs and urgent requests; coordinate cross-discipline work while preserving data quality and safety.
• Investigate unexpected results and recommend follow-up tests or design changes with engineers.
• Develop and execute mechanical qualification plans for insertion/withdrawal force, retention, durability, vibration, and other requirements.
• Design or specify fixtures and loading conditions for tensile, compression, bend, and cyclic tests using Instron/Bluehill or similar systems.
• Plan environmental exposures and assess effects on fit, force, warpage, and mechanical integrity with coordination from other engineers.
• Use drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and statistics to relate test results to design and manufacturing variation.
