LOCATION

Richmond, CA 94801

SCHEDULE

12-hour shift schedule (5:00 – 5:00) operating 365 days a year. A typical 28-day schedule: day shift – 4 nights / 3 off / 3 days / 1 off / 3 nights / 3 off / 4 days / 7 off

COMPENSATION

$18.50-$24.50 per hour. There is a $0.50 shift differential for working night shifts.

CONTRACT TERM

1-year contract with high likelihood of extension or conversion.

POSITION OVERVIEW – Mechanical Technician II

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operate complex distillation and process laboratory equipment maintaining round-the-clock operations under the direction of the supervisor/lead technician or operator.
2. Manage laboratory equipment including large and small reactors, research units, and distillation columns.
3. Operate at elevated temperatures, high pressures, as well as atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures.
4. Participate fully in Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives individually, on your crew, and the ESU team.
5. Operate process units, utility systems, and related equipment as per research scientists and engineers' requests, under supervision. Ensure equipment safety and proper functioning.
6. Monitor new experiments and process changes to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
7. Support sample handling activities for research and crude assay samples for internal and external customers and labs.
8. Meet OE objectives and milestones.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• At least 3 years of Plant and/or Lab Operations experience or mechanical background work.
• High School Diploma; Associate degree or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trade, or related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with process equipment and instrument technology.
• Experience with Operational Excellence (OE) for Labs.
• ROP (Refinery Operator Training) experience or attendance.
• Knowledge of chemicals, heavy oil, distillates, or related materials.
• Some electrical systems knowledge.
• Basic proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Strong commitment to OE in lab and office environments.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues outside immediate work group.
