Job summary

Prestonwood Baptist Church – Plano Campus is seeking a Mechanical Technician I to support operation, preventive maintenance, and basic repair of building mechanical and facility systems at the Plano campus. You will assist with HVAC, plumbing, energy management systems, and related equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in facilities maintenance or HVAC support, OSHA knowledge, and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• General working knowledge of OSHA standards.
• Basic understanding of mechanical tools, equipment, and safety practices.
• Ability to read basic technical instructions, maintenance procedures, and equipment manuals.
• At least one year of experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical work, HVAC support, or completion of a trade school program.
• Certificate in HVAC, mechanical systems, or facilities maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support regular inspection, testing, servicing, and preventive maintenance of building mechanical systems.
• Assist with operation of Building Automation and Energy Management Systems.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing air filters, lubricating moving parts, tightening fittings, and cleaning mechanical components.
• Inspect major facility equipment to identify wear, leaks, unusual noises, temperature variations, or other signs of mechanical issues.
• Assist in testing mechanical equipment to evaluate performance and escalate issues as needed.
• Install or replace mechanical components as part of facility upgrades, retrofits, or equipment repairs.
• Record maintenance procedures, inspection results, and performance data.
• Maintain clean and organized mechanical rooms, work areas, and maintenance tools.
