Mechanic – New Iberia, LA
The mechanic is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of equipment as per operational demands. The mechanical technician improves the maintenance-related nonproductive time ratio of the product line's assets within the Maintenance Base (MB) and enhances maintenance efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned equipment according to the maintenance program and in compliance with the reliability‑centered maintenance strategy through the Computerized Maintenance Management System and standard work.
- Record materials, supplies, labor costs, and equipment maintenance performance history in the Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) business systems.
- Comply with TLM Product Line standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the MB to improve asset utilization and cost of service delivery (CoSD).
- Improve asset turnaround time by reducing downtime, parts and repair authorization numbers, failures, and work‑in‑process.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and productivity of maintenance technicians.
- Implement CoSD projects such as planned repair and reuse of parts.
- Participate in failure investigations as assigned.
- Comply with the TLM Competency Management System.
- Work in the shop during regular hours (7 am to 4 pm) with some on‑call hours including weekends.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a mechanic.
- Experience repairing Detroit and Caterpillar diesel engines.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulics and some electronics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
