Rental Equipment Technician – Louisiana
Position: Rental Equipment Technician
Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Salary: $60,000 – $72,000 yearly range, based on experience, skills, education and training. Overtime is typically calculated after 8 hours worked per day.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all components of heavy rental equipment including engines, power trains, hydraulics and fuel systems.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics, and other specifications to determine repair method.
- Replace or repair defective components, using hand tools, gauges and testing equipment.
- Assemble and install electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment using hand or power tools.
- Rebuild, install and align pump assemblies utilizing safe rigging methods.
- Create, track and formalize work order documents on a timely basis.
- Be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of field experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Basic understanding of hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Own required tool inventory or be ready to participate in Louisiana Cat Tooling Program.
- Strong customer service skills and safety‑first mentality.
Job Facts
- Shift schedule: Monday‑Friday 7am‑5pm; may require work outside standard hours.
- Work environment: physical movement, lifting, squatting, bending, climbing; exposure to weather extremes and rotating mechanical parts.
Physical Demands
- Stand, use hands to reach, lift up to 75 lbs, endure prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting; exert push/pull forces with arms and operate field service vehicle with GVW < 26,000 lbs.
Work Environment
- Indoors around moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, chemicals, high‑pressure water and high‑speed rotating equipment.
