Position Overview

The Mechanic Intern located in New Iberia, Louisiana, is responsible for gaining exposure to career opportunities within the oil and gas technology industry and learning Schlumberger’s role in the industry and the associated lifestyle.

Responsibilities

• Learn about the oil and gas industry.
• Follow prescribed internship guidelines for each week.
• Work 7 am to 4 pm with some on‑call time and weekends.
• Work some weekends.
• After the internship, this position is intended to transfer to a 3‑week on / 3‑week off rotation with some offshore work once the internship has ended.

Qualifications and Experience

• Recent graduate of a diesel mechanic school or other mechanical degree.
• Experience in repairing Detroit and Caterpillar diesel engines.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulics and some electronics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Local candidates preferred; no relocation offered.
• Must be able to work 40+ hours per week.
