Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking an entry level mechanical design engineer within the Systems Integration Group in Poway, CA. Under close supervision you will assist with layout, design, analysis, and documentation on routine projects.

You will use 3D CAD tools to contribute to minor projects, perform analyses, create drawings and reports, and communicate results to the project team while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering and 2+ years engineering experience.
• Aptitude for 3D CAD software such as Pro/E CREO, SolidWorks, or NX.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Applies basic engineering knowledge to design, analyze, investigate and resolve routine problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate interfaces of avionics and mission systems.
• Utilizes 3D CAD for conceptual and detail design solutions for secondary structures and system components.
• Conducts analyses and simulations to validate designs against performance and regulatory standards.
• Prototypes, tests, iterates, and transitions design solutions to production.
• Documents findings and communicates results to project engineering staff.
• Assist in aircraft integration and testing at facilities.
• Maintain confidentiality and observe all laws and regulations.
