Job summary

Green Bay Packaging seeks a Mechanical Supervisor / Planner reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent to lead safety initiatives and ensure an accident-free, productive workforce. The role manages day-to-day and long-range prioritization, planning, and work execution goals for the team in a highly automated, heavy industrial setting.

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering preferred, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, strong leadership,

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering preferred; experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressively more accountable mechanical experience, ideally in paper/heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to deliver messages at all levels.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and personnel development; leadership in a union environment.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent the Mechanical Supervisor / Planner will lead safety initiatives that ensure an accident-free, safe, and productive workforce, manage the day-to-day and long-range prioritization, planning, and work execution goals for the team.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent the Mechanical Supervisor / Planner will lead safety initiatives that ensure an accident-free, safe, and productive workforce, manage the day-to-day and long-range prioritization, planning, and work execution goals for the team.

  • A steadfast commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Supporting the highest department quality and productivity levels.
  • Lead the effort to optimize, streamline, and reduce the preventative maintenance in favor of utilizing predictive technologies to continuously improve systems/mill performance
  • Managing asset quality; ensuring the manufacturing reliability of equipment focusing on reducing and minimizing process downtime.
  • Support infrastructure and encourage involvement in the maintenance training program which produces competent craftspeople who welcome opportunities to expand their skills to become proficient in more advanced control strategies and systems.
  • Has the credibility to work with other departments to achieve AKD’s visions and strategies.
  • The ability to effectively work with various operating groups meeting their needs while always focusing on the overall improvement of a solid operational system.
  • Serve as a resource that removes barriers and helps our front-line employees excel in all aspects process improvements and variation reduction.
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor/Planner should have at least 5 years of progressively more accountable mechanical experience - ideally within the paper industry. While qualified candidates may come from outside the paper industry, it is expected that they will have similar experience in a highly automated process and heavy industrial manufacturing environment and be accustomed to large-scale production in a commodity driven low-cost business.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels
  • Qualified candidates will have keen business acumen, combined with strong fiscal awareness and understanding - particularly as it relates to cost control/reduction, budgeting and capital expenditure.
  • In addition to a full complement of leadership skills - including the ability to lead teams in a union environment - it is also important for the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to bring knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling and personnel development.
  • Maintain and further develop a strong program for maintenance skills training for both entry level employees and incumbent technicians.
