Job summary

Green Bay Packaging is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of maintenance professionals in a high-demand mill environment. Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of mechanical maintenance employees to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mill equipment. This position provides day-to-day leadership for maintenance activities, supports equipment reliability initiatives, and works closely with Operations, Engineering, Contractors, and other departments to achieve safety, production, quality, and cost objectives. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is expected to lead by example in promoting safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and workforce development.


Responsibilities


  • Provide daily leadership and direction to mechanical maintenance employees and contractors.

  • Promote and enforce all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.

  • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize maintenance work to maximize equipment reliability and production up time.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures.

  • Coordinate emergency repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime.

  • Support preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Planning personnel to optimize maintenance execution.

  • Conduct field inspections and audits to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to standards.

  • Develop employees through coaching, training, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause failure analyses, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Assist with outage planning, contractor management, and major maintenance projects.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, work order completion, and equipment history.

  • Monitor department performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Support budget management and efficient utilization of labor, materials, and outside services.

  • Perform other duties and special assignments as required.


Qualifications


  • Completion of a recognized mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical maintenance experience.

  • Five or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or lead-person experience.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and equipment reliability principles.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work effectively with union and non-union personnel, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Ability to support on call needs and rotation.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

  • Paper mill or continuous manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with reliability programs, predictive technologies, and root cause analysis.

  • Previous experience supervising skilled trades personnel in a union environment.
