Schedule: Nights. Project-based schedule; overtime, weekends, and extended shifts may be required
Compensation: $58.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent or Mechanical General Foreman to lead field execution of mechanical construction activities on a large-scale data-center project in West Texas.
This individual will supervise mechanical crews and subcontractors performing equipment setting, piping, HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, fuel-system, and related mission-critical infrastructure work. The position is responsible for safety, manpower, productivity, quality, schedule compliance, testing, system turnover, and coordination with electrical, controls, commissioning, and other project disciplines.
Candidates may be hired at the General Foreman or Superintendent level based on demonstrated leadership experience, project size, technical knowledge, and data-center experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct daily mechanical construction activities across assigned areas and systems.
- Supervise foremen, craft personnel, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
- Plan manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and work sequencing to meet project milestones.
- Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, submittals, BIM coordination drawings, and installation details.
- Coordinate mechanical work with electrical, structural, architectural, controls, fire protection, and commissioning teams.
- Oversee the installation of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, hydronic systems, CRAH/CRAC units, air-handling systems, mechanical piping, plumbing, drainage, fuel systems, and process or utility piping.
- Conduct pre-task planning, toolbox talks, crew coordination meetings, and daily field communication.
- Track production, installed quantities, labor hours, schedule progress, and field constraints.
- Identify material shortages, drawing conflicts, access issues, and other risks that may affect the schedule.
- Enforce safety requirements, approved installation procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, leak testing, startup, commissioning, and system turnover.
- Manage punch-list completion and support integrated systems testing and owner acceptance.
- Maintain accurate documentation for progress reporting, testing, and turnover packages.
- Participate in look-ahead planning, coordination meetings, constructability reviews, and schedule updates.
- Hold crews and subcontractors accountable for safety, attendance, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
- Serve as the primary field contact for the mechanical scope when working in a Superintendent-level role.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of mechanical construction experience for General Foreman consideration.
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical construction experience, including significant field leadership, for Superintendent consideration.
- Experience leading mechanical construction on data centers, semiconductor facilities, industrial plants, power facilities, or other complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical piping, HVAC systems, equipment installation, testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, equipment schedules, and coordination drawings.
- Experience leading large crews, subcontractors, and multiple work fronts.
- Working knowledge of manpower planning, scheduling, productivity tracking, and look-ahead planning.
- Understanding of QA/QC documentation and system turnover requirements.
- Strong commitment to job-site safety and accountability.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and changing project schedules.
- Ability to work outdoors in West Texas conditions and access active construction areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hyperscale or mission-critical data center experience.
- Experience with chilled-water systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, HVAC controls, and building automation interfaces.
- Experience supporting commissioning and integrated systems testing.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- NCCER certification or equivalent mechanical credentials.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, BIM 360, or similar construction-management software.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
