MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT
Location: Kansas City, MO. – Must travel throughout the country
Job type: Long-term Contract
Our global EPC Firm client is hiring a Mechanical Superintendent for a long-term contract opportunity for the Field Operations team out of Kansas City, MO.
** This position offers per diem and requires the ability to travel throughout the country **
The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for field operations on the assigned project(s) to achieve safe, timely, and profitable completion.
REQUIREMENTS
- Plans, organizes, and supervises specific portions of construction work for an assigned area of a construction project.
- Responsible for construction scheduling of mechanical activities of subcontractors to ensure completion of contractual construction activities.
- Maintains job progress continuity and maximizes efficiencies.
- Oversees activities such as piping (carbon, stainless steel, alloy), rotating and stationary equipment, structural steel, rigging, welding, insulation, heat tracing, hydrostatic testing, NDE techniques, fire protection, and coatings.
- Supervises overall construction effort, including safety, productivity, materials and equipment use, scheduling, engineering, and contractual performance.
- Ensures subcontractor contractual compliance on mechanical activities.
- Builds effective relationships with clients and subcontractors, interfacing with client representatives, A/E representatives, and other contractors.
- Collaborates with project management to develop procedures, working documents, and standards.
- Authorizes purchase requisitions and field design change requests under supervision.
- Maintains project safety, reviewing safety documentation regularly.
- Completes daily reports and documents construction progress with photos.
- Assesses future work activities, identifying concerns via subcontractors' 3-week look ahead report.
- Develops as-built drawings and responds to RFIs with assistance.
- Manages subcontractors to meet project schedule, tracking progress and work hours.
- Verifies material deliveries meet specs and are stored properly; coordinates preventative maintenance and heating with Materials Manager.
- Coordinates with QA/QC to verify welder qualifications.
- Witnesses equipment setting and alignment, and oversees system testing and restoration.
- Develops punch lists for items out of compliance or incomplete.
- Ensures use of current drawing revisions in the field.
- Understands and executes project scope and changes, ensuring change orders are executed.
- Oversees craft supervision and project staffing as needed.
- Manages site material and tool resources.
- Responsible for daily field construction in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Supervises daily construction activities, subcontractor coordination, and code compliance.
- Interprets isometric, structural drawings, and P&ID's.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on Mechanical projects, or
- Associate's Degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a strong safety background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to meet company's driving requirements.
