Job summary

Michaud Cooley Erickson (MCE) is seeking a Mechanical Staff Designer in Minneapolis, MN. The role emphasizes growth, autonomy, and collaboration with peers and clients to deliver innovative building systems designs.

The candidate will design projects independently with team support, perform code reviews, and develop details and specifications across mechanical disciplines. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college.
• At least 2 years of related building systems design experience. Retail project experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Microsoft Office Suite experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine code review and analysis.
• Performs routine design calculations and sizes standard equipment.
• Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
• Researches and presents equipment and design options to the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
• Follows company master design standards.
• Ensures QA/QC process is followed and documented.
• Develops knowledge of system types within their discipline.
• Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices.
• Creates project specific details, schematics, and sketches.
• Assembles specifications, including project specific information.
