Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with Conveyor and Sortation experience to join our Customer Service Solution Development team in Grand Rapids, MI. The role focuses on estimating solutions for customers and designing complete material handling systems.

You will read mechanical drawings, develop ROM estimates, and collaborate with engineering and account management. Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design tools, with 5–10 years of project engineering experience, is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of successful experience as a project engineer designing and commissioning automated material handling systems.
• Experience with mechanical conveyor systems design and basic knowledge of electrical controls related to conveyors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand design of complex systems integrating material handling equipment, electrical controls and software to estimate mechanical equipment for complete solutions.
• Read and comprehend mechanical drawings; provide follow-up on technical details.
• Develop ROM costing and lead proposal drawings for estimating purposes.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders through concept, technical and cost reviews.
• Support internal technical and cost reviews and provide engineering input to sales.
