Job summary

Dematic Corp. in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks an experienced design/engineering professional to oversee large material handling solutions. You will define requirements, direct 3D model generation, and manage quotes with internal teams and vendors.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $111,072 -$166,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What You Will Do in This Role:

• Oversee the engineering efforts and estimation of large and complex MHE solutions. Manage the definition of solution requirements.
• Support customer layout reviews.
• Generate/direct the development of solution design.
• Generate system cost estimations using department tools/processes.
• Lead, schedule, plan and manage all the technical activities with attention to project accuracy and quality.
• Review requirements from customer/sales team and closely collaborate with internal and external stakeholder to generate executable system concepts.
• Lead team members, create 3D models, and generate proposal drawings to achieve concept freeze.
• Produce material lists and project scope of work summaries.
• Submit quote request and validate vendor quotes in conjunction with procurement teams.
• Apply standard subsystems, designs, and modules to solutions where appropriate. Identify relevant project risks and assist with generation of mitigation strategies.
• Establish priorities and promote effective interaction between departments.
• Lead technical review and pricing reviews.
• Create cost breakouts and bridging as required.
• Apply value engineering principles to optimize the effectiveness of the system where possible.
• Oversee technical, cost, and contracting aspects of projects and serve as a key contact for intra-company departments and vendors.
• Translate customer RFPs, specification, and requirements into designs for material handling equipment.
• Ensure compliance of SD project process.

What We Are Looking For:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Application, or Industrial Engineering or a closely related field and 5 years of experience as Design Engineer, Controls Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, or closely related occupation.
• Also requires 2 years of experience in the automation industry with PLC Control Systems, WMS/WCS software, linear and crossbelt sortation, ASRS and unit load, pallet conveyor, monorail, simulation, and Autostore. Approximately 10% travel to customer sites and offices in the U.S. Located at Dematic Corp. in Grand Rapids, MI. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week.
