Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is hiring a Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through turnover. Responsibilities include managing budgets, schedules, procurement, and client relationships while coordinating with PM, field, VDC, and engineering teams.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of PM experience in mechanical contracting, a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing and MEP systems, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction/mechanical contracting
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems
• Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and cost controls
• Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
• Proven ability to coordinate field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and multiple trades
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of project profitability
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organization and problem-solving
• Willingness to travel to project locations as required

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through turnover
• Develop execution strategies, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, milestones
• Coordinate across PM, field, VDC, Engineering, Procurement and internal teams
• Own project performance and ensure contractual milestones are met
• Identify risks early and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track
• Manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cost projections
• Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor costs and financials
• Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related MEP systems with other trades
• Lead and participate in project meetings and client discussions
• Communicate status, schedules, financial considerations and risks clearly
• Build strong relationships with owners, GC, architects and vendors
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with drawings and codes
• Oversee closeout activities including turnover, warranties and documentation
• Use Procore/Bluebeam/MPM to manage documentation and schedules
