Applied Resource Group seeks a Mechanical Project Manager to own commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout in the Greater Atlanta area. The role emphasizes hands-on management, coordination of schedules and procurement, and strong communication with customers and project stakeholders.
Ideal candidates have 3–6 years in commercial construction, with HVAC/piping/mechanical exposure, and a background in project management or related roles.
Location: Greater Atlanta Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Commercial Construction / Mechanical Contracting
A growing commercial construction organization in the Atlanta market is seeking a Project Manager to take ownership of projects from preconstruction and planning through execution and closeout.
This opportunity is particularly well suited for an early-to-mid-career construction professional who has developed a strong foundation in commercial construction and is ready for broader project ownership.
The ideal candidate understands how a commercial construction project moves from drawings and approvals through procurement, scheduling, field execution, change management, and completion. Direct mechanical construction experience is highly desirable, but candidates from general contractors who have managed mechanical scopes will also be considered.
This is a hands-on project management position requiring strong construction knowledge, customer communication, organization, and problem-solving ability.
We are targeting candidates with approximately 3–6 years of relevant commercial construction experience, although overall capability and career progression will be considered more heavily than an exact number of years.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
Candidates may come from either a commercial mechanical contractor or a general contractor, provided they have meaningful exposure to mechanical construction and understand the overall commercial construction process.
Candidates should have practical experience with several of the following:
Mechanical experience involving HVAC, piping, plumbing, hydronic systems, mechanical equipment, or related building systems is strongly preferred.
A bachelor's degree is preferred, particularly in:
Professional certifications such as a PMP or CCM are beneficial but not required.
This organization is looking beyond qualifications on paper. The successful candidate will be someone who combines construction knowledge with the ability and desire to take ownership.
We are particularly interested in professionals who are:
The right person should be able to encounter a project issue, understand its impact, determine the appropriate course of action, and drive the issue toward resolution rather than simply escalating the problem.
This position offers significantly broader exposure than many narrowly defined project management roles within larger construction organizations.
The Project Manager will have opportunities to develop experience across:
The environment provides strong performers with autonomy, visibility, responsibility, and direct influence over project outcomes.
This can be an especially attractive next step for an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer who is ready for greater responsibility, or for a Project Manager who wants broader ownership than their current organization provides.
This is an onsite and field-based construction position in the Greater Atlanta market.
The Project Manager will work between office and active project environments depending on project requirements. Candidates should be comfortable being present wherever the project requires their attention.
We are interested in speaking with candidates who already have a solid understanding of commercial construction but still have significant room to grow.
You do not need to have spent 10+ years as a Project Manager.
A high-performing professional with several years of strong commercial construction experience, increasing responsibility, mechanical exposure, and the ability to solve problems independently may be an excellent fit.
Ultimately, we are looking for someone with the right combination of:
Construction Knowledge + Mechanical Aptitude + Problem Solving + Ownership + Drive + Growth Potential
