Job summary

Osborn Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer in Columbus, OH with 5–10 years of experience to contribute to the design of complex HVAC systems. Strong Revit skills and mechanical design expertise are essential for delivering projects in a consulting engineering environment.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary coordination, developing ductwork layouts, and equipment sizing during SD/DD phases, with vendor coordination and RFI/submittal reviews.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design in consulting engineering.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proactive and collaborative team member.
• Experience in Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Revit.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced heating and cooling load calculations with Trace or HAP.
• Develop sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas.
• Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases.
• Edit specifications to reflect project requirements.
• Develop air and water flows.
• Understand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment.
• Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.
• Coordinate with other disciplines for all HVAC details.
• Respond to RFIs and review submittals.
• Manage design processes within the work plan hours.
