Job summary

T. Baker Smith, LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in Gulfport, Mississippi.

You will support mechanical design, analysis, and execution across industrial, facilities, and pipeline projects from FEED through construction support and commissioning. The ideal candidate will bring strong pipeline and industrial engineering expertise, familiarity with regulatory compliance, and the ability to lead technical tasks within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in pipeline and midstream engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192, 195; ASME B31.8/B31.4/B31.3; PHMSA regulations.
• Experience with HDD design and crossing analyses.
• Ability to interpret and develop pipeline alignment sheets and construction drawings.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads technical tasks on projects.
• Participates in project planning, including scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develops design concepts on projects.
• Mentor and lead engineers and technicians on technical design tasks.
• Lead technical engineering efforts for natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline projects.
• Performs pipeline system design per CFR/ASME/regulations.
• Prepares or modifies reports, computations, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs.
• Coordinates with the Project Manager and client on tasks, scopes, schedules and budgets.
• Ensures drawings and designs adhere to QA/QC standards.
