Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group seeks a Mechanical Process Designer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI (office options: TN, MI, SC). You will develop pipe/duct layouts, mechanical equipment drawings, and process layouts for complex facilities across defense, energy, and industrial sectors.

Collaborate with disciplines, produce 2D drawings from 3D models, and ensure timely documentation. The ideal candidate has CAD/CAE experience, drafting principles, and piping/ducting knowledge.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required to comply with government requirements.
• Two years of vocational school or two years college with drafting/engineering courses plus at least two years of experience.
• Working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems.
• Knowledge of piping/ducting and component layout used in process mechanical design.
• Ability to produce 2D drawings from 3D models using Plant 3D, Revit, Inventor, Creo or similar.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Lead Process Engineer.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings for pipe/duct layouts and mechanical equipment.
• Prepare engineering sketches and design details per project standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and project teams.
• Ensure timely production of drawing packages, spreadsheets, and documentation.
• Familiarize with office and department work processes.
