The Mechanical & Plumbing Inspector role is a great opportunity for someone who:
The Mechanical & Plumbing Inspector performs technical inspection work throughout the County to ensure construction and building systems comply with applicable codes, approved plans, and permit requirements. This position conducts inspections of a variety of structures and projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial construction, at various stages of development and upon completion. The Mechanical & Plumbing Inspector reviews blueprints, diagrams, plans, and other construction documents and evaluates work in the field for compliance with applicable requirements. When deficiencies are identified, the Inspector documents findings and issues correction notices, stop‑work orders, and other enforcement actions as appropriate. The position also explains inspection findings, correction requirements, and applicable building codes to contractors, property owners, officials, agencies, and the public. The Mechanical & Plumbing Inspector may also respond to complaints and inquiries regarding potential code violations and conduct follow‑up inspections as necessary to verify compliance.
This position typically follows a traditional five‑day workweek, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with work performed both in the field and in the office. Alternative schedules, including a four‑day workweek, may be available and negotiated with the Hiring Manager based on operational needs.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $33.44 - $50.16 USD Hourly
The posted pay range reflects the full earning range for this position. Starting pay will be based on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
