Job summary

Synerfac Inc. in Coraopolis, PA, seeks an experienced Mechanical Piping Engineer to design and develop piping systems for industrial and process facilities, with emphasis on Revit-based 3D modeling and constructible documentation.

The role involves coordinating with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines, performing detailed calculations, and supporting project delivery from design to construction. Hybrid work available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical piping design or industrial/process piping systems.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and 3D piping modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Revit Fabrication Parts, custom families, system parameters, and view filters.
• Experience preparing engineering models and construction documentation through schematic design, design development, and construction document phases.

Synerfac is seeking an experienced Mechanical Piping Engineer for an established engineering consulting firm with opportunities in Pittsburgh and Wyomissing, PA. This position offers the opportunity to design and develop mechanical piping systems for industrial and process engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering calculations, piping system layouts, 3D modeling, and construction documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial piping design, advanced experience with Autodesk Revit, and the ability to develop accurate, coordinated, and constructible piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

• -Design and develop mechanical piping systems for industrial and process facilities.
• -Develop piping layouts for process water, hydraulic fluid, compressed air, and other industrial applications.
• -Perform engineering calculations, including pipe sizing, flow rates, pressure drops, pump head, and equipment connection requirements.
• -Prepare piping plans, sections, details, schematics, and construction documentation.
• -Create and modify 3D piping models using Autodesk Revit.
• -Utilize Revit Fabrication Parts, custom families, system parameters, and view filters to develop coordinated piping models.
• -Prepare, review, and modify Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• -Select and incorporate appropriate piping materials, fittings, valves, accessories, and equipment connections.
• -Coordinate piping layouts with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
• -Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and equipment submittals to identify potential design conflicts.
• -Conduct onsite field surveys to evaluate existing mechanical and piping systems.
• -Participate in engineering coordination meetings and construction-phase activities.
• -Respond to requests for information (RFIs) and review piping-related contractor submittals.
• -Support quality-control reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering calculations, Revit models, and construction documents.
• -Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to meet project deadlines and budgets.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• -Strong technical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• -Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• -Experience with Revit-based mechanical coordination and clash detection.
• -Familiarity with Autodesk Fabrication databases, service configurations, and fabrication-oriented modeling workflows.
• -Knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, and other applicable industry standards.
• -Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• -Experience designing skid-mounted, modular, or prefabricated piping systems.
• -Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or Autodesk Inventor.
