Avery Dennison in Indiana is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to serve as a primary technical resource for driving equipment reliability and safety at our manufacturing facility. You will troubleshoot complex mechanical drives, establish PM routes, and lead root-cause problem solving while mentoring shift technicians.

Experience with mechanical drive trains, gear sets, and drive alignment is essential; Lean/Six Sigma and ISO familiarity are preferred, along with maintenance software

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 8+ years of verifiable mechanical repair experience OR an Associate Degree with 4+ years experience.
• Strong expertise in mechanical drive trains, bearing preloads, gear sets, drive alignment, and AC/DC drives.
• Preferred: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO standards, or maintenance management software.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical drive systems, gear reducers, bearings, shafts and related equipment.
• Establish and execute PM schedules to ensure plant uptime.
• Lead root-cause problem solving for high-level mechanical issues.
• Mentor and train shift technicians to build team capability.
• Create and update SOPs and technical documentation.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

• Industrial Mechanic | Maintenance Mechanic - Mechanical Drives

Shift: Night Shift | Sunday - Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Sun - Thurs)

Avery Dennison is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will act as a primary technical resource, driving equipment reliability, operational safety, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing facility.

What You'll Do:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical drive systems, gear reducers, bearings, shaft alignments, and process/utility equipment.

• Establish and execute mechanical inspection routes and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure plant uptime.

• Lead situational problem-solving to identify root causes and resolve high-level mechanical issues.

• Mentor and train shift maintenance technicians, sharing technical knowledge to build team capability.

• Create and update technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Single Page Lessons, and red-line schematic changes.

What You Bring:

• Experience & Education: High School Diploma with 8+ years of verifiable mechanical machine repair experience OR an Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology / Journeyman Mechanical certification with 4+ years of experience.

• Technical Skills: Strong expertise in mechanical drive trains, bearing preloads, gear sets, drive alignment, and working knowledge of AC/DC drives.

• Core Competencies: High attention to detail, proactive curiosity for root-cause diagnosis, agility in shifting priorities, and a "Team Before Self" collaborative mindset.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and flexibility to work overtime as needed.

• Preferred: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO standards, or maintenance management software.

The hourly rate for this position is $29.87 - $41.81 per hour, with a shift differential of $2.00 per hour.
