Avery Dennison Corporation is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the night shift at our Indiana facility. The role focuses on maintaining mechanical drive trains, diagnosing issues, and ensuring safe, reliable plant operation.

You will lead preventive maintenance schedules, mentor junior technicians, and create/upate SOPs and technical documentation. The position requires 8+ years of repair experience or an associate degree with 4+ years, and flexibility for overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 8+ years of verifiable mechanical repair experience OR an Associate Degree with 4+ years of experience.
• Strong expertise in mechanical drive trains, bearings, gear sets, drive alignment, and AC/DC drives.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical drive systems and related equipment.
• Establish and execute PM routes to ensure plant uptime.
• Lead root-cause analysis to resolve high-level mechanical issues.
• Mentor and train shift maintenance technicians to build team capability.
• Create and update SOPs and technical documentation.

The hourly rate for this position is $29.87 - $41.81 per hour, with a shift differential of $2.00 per hour.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

• Industrial Mechanic | Maintenance Mechanic - Mechanical Drives

Are you a skilled mechanic driven by curiosity and problem-solving? Avery Dennison is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will act as a primary technical resource, driving equipment reliability, operational safety, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing facility.

What You'll Do:

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical drive systems, gear reducers, bearings, shaft alignments, and process/utility equipment.

Establish and execute mechanical inspection routes and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure plant uptime.

Lead situational problem-solving to identify root causes and resolve high-level mechanical issues.

Mentor and train shift maintenance technicians, sharing technical knowledge to build team capability.

Create and update technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Single Page Lessons, and red-line schematic changes.

What You Bring:

Experience & Education: High School Diploma with 8+ years of verifiable mechanical machine repair experience OR an Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology / Journeyman Mechanical certification with 4+ years of experience.

Technical Skills: Strong expertise in mechanical drive trains, bearing preloads, gear sets, drive alignment, and working knowledge of AC/DC drives.

Core Competencies: High attention to detail, proactive curiosity for root-cause diagnosis, agility in shifting priorities, and a "Team Before Self" collaborative mindset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Preferred: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO standards, or maintenance management software.
