Abbott is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician II (3rd Shift) to maintain, repair, and service manufacturing and facility systems at the Sturgis, MI site within the Nutrition division. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of machine repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and spatial aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machinery to restore proper operation.
• Knowledge of fluid and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of lubrication procedures with oil and grease.
• Seamer proficiency.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and service manufacturing and facility systems.
• Perform skilled maintenance and repair of manufacturing and facility systems such as mechanical and building systems.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Implement methods, practices and techniques of maintaining building and facilities to identify and address recurring problems with machinery, equipment or parts.
• Conduct periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair.
• Adhere to current sanitation and GMP requirements.
• Maintain current status on all required training.
• Be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

What You'll Work On

A Mechanic II maintains, repairs, and services manufacturing and facility systems.

• Perform skilled maintenance and repair services of manufacturing and facility systems such as mechanical and building systems

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of previous experience with machine repair in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of mechanical system, mechanical and spatial aptitude
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine the cause of improper machine operation and make necessary adjustments and repairs to return to proper operation
• Knowledge of fluid and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease
• Demonstrated seamer proficiency
• Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical Diploma
• Predictive Maintenance experience/training
• Backflow Prevention certified by Michigan Mechanics and Plumbers and Construction Association
• Seamer certified via formal Angelus or Pneumatic Scale Seamer School
