Abbott Laboratories in Sturgis, MI is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician II (3rd Shift) to maintain, repair and service manufacturing and facility systems within the Nutrition division. You will read blueprints, identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions while complying with sanitation and GMP standards.

What You’ll Work On

A Mechanic II maintains, repairs, and services manufacturing and facility systems. Perform skilled maintenance and repair services of manufacturing and facility systems such as mechanical and building systems. Interpret blueprints and schematics. Implement methods, practices and techniques of maintaining building and facilities to identify and address recurring problems with machinery, equipment or parts. Conduct periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair. Adhere to current sanitation and GMP requirements. Maintain current status on all required training.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of previous experience with machine repair in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of mechanical system, mechanical and spatial aptitude
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine the cause of improper machine operation and make necessary adjustments and repairs to return to proper operation
• Knowledge of fluid and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease
• Demonstrated seamer proficiency
• Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical Diploma
• Predictive Maintenance experience/training
• Backflow Prevention certified by Michigan Mechanics and Plumbers and Construction Association
• Seamer certified via formal Angelus or Pneumatic Scale Seamer School

Pay

The base pay for this position is $20.85 – $41.75/hour In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
