Job summary

Siemens Energy Staffing seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to perform plant maintenance ensuring safe, reliable operation. You will repair equipment, follow blueprints, maintain logs, and train colleagues while coordinating with contractors on heavy machinery tasks.

The role requires OSHA 10 and preferred rigging/c crane qualifications, with willingness for shift work and work at heights. This position supports Siemens Energy projects from its staffing arm.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 required.
  • Rigging (preferred).
  • Crane Operator (preferred).
  • Rigging Certification (preferred).
  • Strong combined cycle experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and maintenance work following blueprint sketches, technical manuals, and procedures.
  • Identify mechanical design or machinery improvements and recommend modifications.
  • Maintain maintenance management system logs and downtime records.
  • Follow safety and environmental rules; implement safe working practices and repairs.
  • Rigging and operate lifting equipment for safe handling of heavy machinery.
  • Certify as a crane operator and attend rigging training.
  • Train others in safety and mechanical maintenance techniques.
  • Assist in investigation of plant problems/incidents and provide input for reports.
  • Write, review, and revise maintenance procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment/systems and perform corrective actions.
  • Work with outside contractors during overhauls.
  • Work at heights and in high noise/temperature areas; accept shift work.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician
A Snapshot of Your Day

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager and in coordination with the O&M services contract, this position is responsible for the general maintenance activities of the plant. The primary responsibility of this job is to conduct mechanical maintenance functions safely, reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Perform repair and maintenance work following blueprint sketches, technical manuals, and procedures.

  • Identify mechanical design or machinery improvements and problems, and recommend modifications necessary for resolution.

  • Perform upkeep of the maintenance management system and other administrative tasks as assigned. Maintain logs of problems, repairs, and downtime.

  • Follow safety and environmental rules and regulations. Implement safe working practices, immediately identify hazards, and recommend and/or implement repairs.

  • Perform power plant rigging and operate lifting equipment necessary for the safe handling of heavy machinery and materials.

  • Certify as a crane operator and attend rigging training.

  • Train others as required. Provide safety and mechanical maintenance training for new hires and refresher items. Receive training to further individual knowledge and prepare for advancement.

  • Assist in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provide input and recommendations for reports and follow-up plans.

  • Write, review, and revise maintenance and related procedures.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and systems, and provide or perform corrective action. Perform failure analysis to determine the cause of equipment or system malfunction.

  • Work with outside contractors during overhauls or at other times when contractors are engaged in plant work.

  • Work at various heights from aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding, and in areas of high noise and temperature extremes.

  • Work scheduled hours and scheduled or unscheduled overtime, including days off and beyond the regular work schedule. Perform shift work, including holidays, nights, and weekends, when required.

  • Work near high voltages, rapidly moving equipment, and in confined spaces.

  • Strong combined cycle experience (preferred)

Physical Demands
  • Frequent reaching, pulling, shoving, bending, stooping, and kneeling.

  • Frequent use of near, far, depth, and color vision.

  • Frequent verbal communication and hearing ability.

  • Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Moderate lifting of materials weighing more than 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
