Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist for a 12-month training program to support power plant service operations across the US and Canada. The role includes four months of coursework and hands-on training at multiple facilities, followed by eight months of field assignments across the US.

Travel is heavy, with 200–250 days per year and long/rotating shifts. Base location is a US service center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety/occupational health or related field.
  • Willingness to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA; Orlando, FL; and Deer Park, TX.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site project safety programs (LOTO, PPE, scaffolding, etc.).
  • Interact with customer leadership and SE senior leadership.
  • Maintain reporting and site documentation.
  • Manage environmental and chemical programs.
  • Oversee safety incidents reporting and investigation.
  • Interface with customers and field teams.
  • Develop and improve safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with global EHS and technical staff.

A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist in the EHS Training Program, you will play a vital role in the success of our power plant service operations. In this role, you will be responsible for site safety and environmental programs in support of our field teams who perform maintenance and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical generation machinery in the world including gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators, throughout the US and Canada. The 12-month training program combines four months of comprehensive coursework and hands‑on training at Siemens Energy facilities in Orlando, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, and Houston along with eight months of the job training assignments as a member of our field teams working at power plants across the US. Upon completion of the EHS Specialist training you will support field service operations at power plant project sites. This position requires traveling an average of 200 to 250 days per year. Individual assignments typically last from 1 to10 weeks. When on assignment, working schedules are typically 10 to 12 hours per day, 6 to 7 days per week and may include working the night shift. The position will be based at one of our US service centers.

  • Lead site project safety programs including, Safety Meeting, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting, Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material Handling.
  • Professional interaction with customer leadership and with SE senior leadership.

What You Bring (requirements)
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Occupational Health, Industrial Technology/Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Technology, Engineering, or similar. Experience.
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Pittsburgh PA, Orlando FL, and Deer Park, TX.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
