Job summary

Comfort Systems USA, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work, including sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, valve replacements, and gasket work on active job sites and rooftops.

You will read drawings and specs, follow torque requirements, use torque wrenches, and maintain safety protocols with LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures. This role requires physical endurance and the ability to travel to construction sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Proficient in using torque tools and PPE; follow safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and operational checks per job requirements).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools and documented torque requirements.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verify zero-energy state per procedure.
• Read and work from job documentation (drawings, specs, work orders) to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow all safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work as required.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment properly, including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks within your skillset; elevate issues when needed.
