Job summary

Comfort Systems USA, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work, performing sheet metal modifications and piping tasks in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active job sites.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to torque requirements, and collaboration with supervisors to deliver high-quality work across construction sites. Travel to sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation, removal/replacement, reassembly, operational checks).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools and documented torque requirements.
• Execute Lockout/Tagout procedures; identify energy sources, isolate equipment, and verify zero-energy state.
• Read and work from job drawings, specs, and work orders to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow safety policies and site rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to supervisor; document completed work.
• Use and maintain tools including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical tasks; escalate issues when needed.
